Depart home towards China while enjoying delicious meals, drinks, and in-flight entertainment during our journey.
D2. Beijing
Upon arriving at Beijing, we are met by our tour guide to be transferred to the Luxurious Hotel.
D3. Beijing (American Breakfast, Lunch, Special Dinner)
Beijing is the capital city of China and the host city for the 2008 Olympics. We embark for a full day tour which begins at the Tian An Men Square, noted as the largest public square in the world with its monuments and buildings situated around the square's perimeter. Thereafter we will visit the Forbidden City and Summer Palace whilst enjoying a walk along Lake Kunming. Dinner will then be served at a fabulous Peking Duck Banquet.
D4. Beijing (AB, L, D)
The Great Wall of China is one of the seven great man-made wonders of the world and is definitely the focal point of China. We will hike along the Badaling Pass of the Great Wall. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant followed by a visit to the historic Hutong and Alley of Beijing old town. Take in the many different sights and sounds of historic Beijing. Followed by a walk along the World Trade Street and enjoy the ‘Legend of Kungfu’ show.
D5. Beijing/Xian (AB, L, D)
Visit the Temple of Heaven , where the Emperor prayed for harvest in Ming and Qing dynasty. Walk along the New Qianmen Street and enjoy the beautiful Bird’s Nets and Water Cube up close. Later in the day, we board a flight to Xian, which is the starting point of the historic Silk Road. We drive by and stop on the Ancient City Wall and admire the fantastic sights.
D6. Xian (AB, L, SD)
Xian, the former capital of China and enjoys a rich 5000 year old history. In 221 BC, Qin Shi Huang unified China and became its first emperor. When he died, an entire Terra Cotta Army was constructed to be buried along with the emperor. It was uncovered serendipitously in 1974 by farmers, and then became one of the century's great archeological discoveries. We will visit the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Museum, followed with a stop at the Bell Tower. Thereafter, we enjoy an Imperial Dumpling Banquet and shortly after watch the world famous Tang Dynasty Stage Show.
D7. Xian/Guilin (AB, L, D)
To finish up our tour in Xian, we take a visit to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and then depart Xian for Guilin by air. Upon arrival, we visit the Reed Flute Cave and take the famous Dream Tour of Guilin Water System on cruise after dinner.
D8. Guilin/Yangshuo (AB, L, D)
The highlight of today is a leisurely 4-hour cruise down the Li River, passing through valleys, bamboo groves and rice fields. Lunch will be served on board our luxurious cruise. We visit the beautiful Moon Hill after arrival, and the rest of the day would be spent as leisure on your own. Ride a bicycle or walk to the countryside and experience the real Chinese Farmer's life.
D9. Yangshuo/Guilin/Chongqing Zoo (AB, L, D)
Driving back to Guilin in the morning, we finish up the tour in Guilin by visiting the Elephant Trunk Hill, which locates at the junction of the Li River and the Peach Blossom River in downtown area. We then fly to Chongqing in the afternoon. Chongqing is called the ‘mountain city’, which was the capital of China during World War II. We drive over to the zoo to see the pandas. with just an estimated 1,000 surviving in the wild, Pandas remain one of the world’s most endangered species.
D10. Chongqing/Dazu Grottos/Three Gorges (AB, L, D)
We’ll visit the Stilwell Museum dedicated to “Vinegar Joe” Stilwell, commander of American forces in China, Burma, and India during World War II. We’ll learn about the colorful history of the American Volunteer Air Group, the “Flying Tigers,” who were based here during the war. Later we drive to Dazu. Originally started in the first year of Emperor Yonghui of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), the Dazu Grottos had been enlarged and rebuilt up through the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). More than 50,000 mainly Buddhist figures have been carved out of the rock. The carvings were carved out of the cliff face using only primitive tools and man-power. In 1999 they were added to UNESCO's World Cultural Heritage List. Later in the day, head to the docks where Regal China cruise ship awaits to take us on our highly anticipated Majestic Yangtze adventure.
D11. Cruise the Yangtze (AB, L, SD)
Our cruise set sail from Chongqing in the morning, the first shore excursion will be ‘Ghost City’ Fengdu, which contains numerous statues of devils and ghosts that roam the afterworld.
D12. Cruise the Yangtze (AB, L, D)
Sail through Qutang Gorge, the shortest and most dramatic one of the Three Gorges. Wu Gorge is famous for its quiet beauty. Disembark at Wushan where we board small riverboat for a leisurely ride through Shennong Stream, which offers clear running waters, picturesque rock formations, and even monkeys and goat along its banks. The ship sails through Xiling Gorge, the longest one of the Three Gorges in the afternoon, and will pass through the ship-lock of the new three gorges dam.
D13. Cruise the Yangtze (AB, L, D)
Our cruise will stop at Taipingxi (or Sandouping), where we disembark to visit the massive Three Gorges Dam Project, which is the world's largest dam, measuring 606 feet high and 6,500 feet long. In 1997, the cofferdam was completed and the main structure begun. The dam has two five-stage locks to raise and lower ships to the different river levels. Each lock in the five stages is 65 feet high and 910 feet long.
D14. Wuhan/Shanghai (AB, L, D)
Our cruise down the Yangtze ends this morning in Wuhan. We then fly to Shanghai in the afternoon and hop aboard a cruise of the Huangpu River, taking in the magnificent twinkling night scenery of Shanghai.
D15. Shanghai (AB, SL)
The full day city tour includes a visit to Shanghai Old Street. Take in the local scenery of bustling shopping district Nanjing Road and travel along the famous Bund, a five-block long riverfront promenade containing many of Shanghai's banks and trading houses. Enjoy a traditional Mongolian BBQ Buffet lunch. After which we will visit Shanghai Museum to see the ancient Chinese art, furniture and jade. Today's dinner will be of independent choice.
D16. Shanghai/Hometown (AB)
We are transferred to the airport for our flight back home, or will begin the optional Post-Trip Extension.
