Depart home towards China while enjoying delicious meals, drinks, and in-flight entertainment during our journey.
D2. Beijing
Upon arriving at Beijing, we are met by our tour guide to be transferred to the Luxurious Hotel.
D3. Beijing (American Breakfast, Lunch, Special Dinner)
Beijing is the capital city of China and the host city for the 2008 Olympics. We embark for a full day tour which begins at the Tian An Men Square, noted as the largest public square in the world with its monuments and buildings situated around the square's perimeter. Thereafter we will visit the Forbidden City and Summer Palace whilst enjoying a walk along Lake Kunming. Dinner will then be served at a fabulous Peking Duck Banquet.
D4. Beijing (AB, L, D)
The Great Wall of China is one of the seven great man-made wonders of the world and is definitely the focal point of China. We will hike along the Badaling Pass of the Great Wall. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant followed by a visit to the historic Hutong and Alley of Beijing old town. Take in the many different sights and sounds of historic Beijing. Followed by a walk along the World Trade Street and enjoy the ‘Legend of Kungfu’ show.
D5. Beijing/Xian (AB, L, D)
Visit the Temple of Heaven , where the Emperor prayed for harvest in Ming and Qing dynasty. Walk along the New Qianmen Street and enjoy the beautiful Bird’s Nets and Water Cube up close. Later in the day, we board a flight to Xian, which is the starting point of the historic Silk Road. We drive by and stop on the Ancient City Wall and admire the fantastic sights.
D6. Xian (AB, L, SD)
Xian, the former capital of China and enjoys a rich 5000 year old history. In 221 BC, Qin Shi Huang unified China and became its first emperor. When he died, an entire Terra Cotta Army was constructed to be buried along with the emperor. It was uncovered serendipitously in 1974 by farmers, and then became one of the century's great archeological discoveries. We will visit the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Museum, followed with a stop at the Bell Tower. Thereafter, we enjoy an Imperial Dumpling Banquet and shortly after watch the world famous Tang Dynasty Stage Show.
D7. Xian/Lhasa (AB, In-flight Meal, D)
To Finish up our tour in Xian with a visit to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Depart Xian for Lhasa by air. Lhasa is called ‘City of Sunshine', elevates over 12000 ft, with very thin air, take a good rest after arrival.
D8. Lhasa (AB, L, D)
Built in the 17th century, the Potala Palace took 7,000 workers and 1,500 artists and craftsmen more than 50 years to build the adjoining White and Red Palaces. It is the largest lamasery in the world. Walking along Barkhor Bazaar, we have the opportunity to experience the Tibetan culture and buy colorful ethnic handicrafts.
D9. Lhasa (AB, L, D)
We take a full day tour to the 1,300-year-old Jokhang Temple , where we are likely to see Buddhist pilgrims making clockwise circuits on their hands and knees in reverence to one of Tibet 's most sacred sites. Thousands of yak-butter candles flicker inside beneath the enlightened gaze of the golden Jowo Sakyamuni, the 7th-century Buddha statue that the temple was built to house. Sera Monastery features the largest Tsokchen (main assembly hall) in town, it was built to house precious gifts from the Emperor to one of Je Tsongkhapa's disciples.
D10. Lhasa/Shanghai (AB, L)
Fly to Shanghai in the morning, visit Shanghai Museum to see the ancient Chinese art, furniture and jade. Today's dinner will be of independent choice. Hop aboard a cruise off the Huangpu River, taking in the magnificent twinkling night scenery of Shanghai.
D11. Shanghai/Hometown (AB)
We are transferred to the airport for our flight back home, or will begin the optional Post-Trip Extension.
