Tour Itinerary

Day 1. Hometown to Beijing (In-flight Meals)
Depart home towards China while enjoying delicious meals, drinks, and in-flight entertainment during the journey.
Day 2. Beijing (IM)
Welcome to Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK), the 2nd busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic. You will be greeted by our tour guide and transferred to check in at your luxurious hotel where you are at your leisure to relax and enjoy the evening.

Day 3. Beijing (American Breakfast, Lunch, Special Dinner)
Beijing, the capital city, is also the second largest city in China with population of 17.4 million. Your full day tour begins at the Tiananmen Square (Gate of Heavenly Peace). It is one of the largest public squares in the world, and contains the Monument to the People's Heroes, the Great Hall of the People, the Museum of History and Revolution, and the Chairman Mao Zedong Memorial Hall (with Mao’s embalmed body). Next, you will tour the Forbidden City (Gu Gong or The Imperial Palaces), which is the imperial palace for Ming and Qing emperors for 500 years. The Third Ming Emperor YongLe moved the capital of China to Beijing in early 1400. UNESCO cited “The Imperial Palaces provide outstanding examples of the greatest palatial architectural ensembles in China”. Summer Palace is described by UNESCO as “a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design”. Later you can enjoy a walk along Lake Kunming. After a day-long sightseeing, it’s time to fill your stomach with a fabulous Peking Duck Banquet (Kao Ya). You’ll be served with carved crispy duck skins. Roll it up in small tortilla slice with cucumber, onion, and special sauce to give you a mouthwatering experience that you won’t forget.

Forbidden City (Gu Gong or the Imperial Palaces)
Day 4. Beijing (AB, L, D)
The Great Wall of China(Chang Cheng), another world heritage site, is also considered to be one of the new seven wonders of the world. It is the dream destination for millions of Chinese and people around the world to fulfill the famous Chinese saying “One cannot be a successful person without a visit to the Great Wall of China”. A stone monument can be found on site with the late Chairman Mao’s inscription of the same phrase in Chinese. You can hike along the Badaling Pass of the Great Wall, where President Richard Nixon and his wife visited on February 24, 1972, during his historic journey to China. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant followed by a visit to the historic Hutong and Alley (Hu Tong) of Beijing old town. Here you can sense the many different sights and sounds of historic Beijing. You can take a walk along the World Trade Street and later watch the ‘Legend of Kungfu’ show.

Great Wall of China(Chang Cheng)
Day 5. Beijing (AB)
Today, you can explore the Capital city of China on your own. An optional tour is available to visit Tianjin. ‘Tianjin-one-day-tour’ - Tianjin is the sixth largest city of China, only 30 minutes away from Beijing by Maglev-Train. Tianjin has several famous snack items. Goubuli is a traditional brand of steamed buns with tasty flavor filling that is famous throughout China. Guifaxiang is a traditional brand of mahua (twisted dough sticks). Visit Ancient Culture Street, this 580-meter-long street is full of Qing Dynasty style Architectures. Head back to Beijing after the stop at Yangliuqing (Green Willows) Museum, which is famous for its popular Chinese New Year-themed, traditional-style, colorful Wash Paintings. D6. Beijing/Xi’an (AB, L, D)
Visit the Temple of Heaven (Tian Tan), where the Emperors of Ming and Qing dynasties performed annual ceremonies of prayer to heaven for good harvest. Walk along the New Qianmen Street and admire the beautiful Bird’s Nest National Stadium and the Water Cube up close. Later in the day, you will catch a flight to Xi’an. upon arrival, visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Da Yan Ta), which is the most distinctive landmark in Xi’an. the pagoda was used to hold sutras and figurines of the Buddha that were brought back from India. After dinner, you can stroll down the Muslim Night Market to see traditional Muslin culture alive in Xi’an.

D7. Xi’an (AB, L, SD)
The first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, unified China in 201 BC and made significant influence in Chinese history. When he died, an entire Terra Cotta Army was buried with the emperor in the mausoleum. You will visit the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Museum (Bing Ma Yong). After a stop at the Bell Tower, you can enjoy an Imperial Dumpling Banquet (Jiao Zi) and shortly after watch the world famous Tang Dynasty Stage Show.

D8. Xian/Lhasa (AB, SL, D)
You may practice Tai Chi or ride a bike to enjoy the scenery on top of the Ancient City Wall (Cheng Qiang). Try some western style hamburgers for lunch today. Depart Xian for Lhasa by air. Lhasa is called ‘City of Sunshine’, elevates over 12000 ft. Landing on the Gongka airport, you will feel the difference of plateau immediately, tour guide welcomes you, with oxygen bags in the air-conditioning bus. take a good rest after arrival.

D9. Lhasa (AB, L, SD)
Built in the 17th century, the Potala Palace contains over 1,000 rooms, 10,000 shrines and about 200,000 statues, it is the largest lamasery in the world. The 13-story-building took 7,000 workers and 1,500 artists and craftsmen more than 50 years to build. Walking along Barkhor Bazaar, we have the opportunity to experience the Tibetan culture and buy colorful ethnic handicrafts. A Tibetan style dinner and watching Tibetan dancing show in the evening will be the highlight of the trip.
D10. Lhasa (AB, L, D)
Take a full day tour to the 1,300-year-old Jokhang Temple, where we are likely to see Buddhist pilgrims making clockwise circuits on their hands and knees in reverence to one of Tibet’s most sacred sites. Thousands of yak-butter candles flicker inside beneath the enlightened gaze of the golden Jowo Sakyamuni, the 7th-century Buddha statue that the temple was built to house. Sera Monastery features the largest Tsokchen (main assembly hall) in town. We will also be guest in a local Tibetan family in the late afternoon.

D11. Lhasa/Chongqing/ Yangtze (AB, L, D)
Fly to ‘mountain city’ Chongqing, the capital of China during World War II. We drive over to see the pandas, with just an estimated 1,000 surviving in the wild. we’ll visit the Stilwell Museum, learn about the colorful history of the American Volunteer Air Group, the “Flying Tigers” who were based here during the war. Our cruise set sail from Chongqing in late evening.
D12. Cruise the Yangtze (AB, L, D)
the first shore excursion will be ‘Ghost City’ Fengdu, which contains numerous statues of devils and ghosts that roam the afterworld. Fengdu model after the Chinese Hell in Taoist mythology, built over 1800 years ago.
D13. Cruise the Yangtze (AB, L, D)
Sail through Qutang Gorge, the shortest and most dramatic one of the Three Gorges. Wu Gorge is famous for its quiet beauty. Disembark at Wushan where we board 40-footlong- sampan for a leisurely ride through Shennong Stream, which offers clear running waters, picturesque rock formations, and even monkeys and goat along its banks. we will pass through the ship-lock of the new three gorges dam.

D14. Yangtze/Yichang/Shanghai (AB, L)
We disembark to visit the massive Three Gorges Dam Project in the morning, the Dam is the world’s largest dam with two five-stage locks to raise and lower ships to the different river levels. The ship sails through Xiling Gorge, the longest one of the Three Gorges. Disembark at Yichang, the terminus of our memorable Yangtze cruise, we board a flight to Shanghai, visit the famous Bund (Wai Tan) upon arrival, it is a five-block riverfront promenade with many of Shanghai’s banks and trading houses. You will enjoy the world famous Acrobatic Show tonight.

D15. Shanghai (AB, L, SD)
Today’s city tour starts with a visit to Shanghai Old Street (Cheng Huang Miao). You can also experience the bustling shopping district of Nanjing Road and People’s Square. After shopping, spend some free time at Shanghai Museum. With special exhibits and a collection of 120,000 precious works of art, this has become a favorite destination for tourists and local people. Tonight you will have local Shanghai Cuisine as farewell dinner party.

Transfer to the airport for your flight home, or begin optional Post-Trip Extension.
