Is This Trip Right for You?

This is an active trip. Our small group covers a lot of ground each day, and we spend two to three hours on our feet during tours. The pace is fast. We have many early mornings and long bus rides necessary to cover the territory. Some of our tours require walking over uneven surfaces or up and down steep slopes or steps. Day 1 Depart from USA
Embark on your incredible journey to the exotic lands of India from your convenient U.S. international gateway. You will spend time crossing the international dateline to reach the international airport serving the capital city of India in Delhi.

Day 2 Delhi, India
Arrival in Delhi, where you will meet your tour representative who will arrange for transfer to hotel. Rest of the day will be at own leisure to rest and accustom to the time zone difference.

Overnight: Delhi

Day 3 Delhi
Visit Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India, in the heart of old Delhi after breakfast. Later visit Raj Ghat, where Gandhi was cremated, then continue with a panoramic view of the government buildings along the Raj Path and the imposing India Gate. Check out the Sikh Temple and round up this excursion with visit to the impressive Minaret of Qutub Minar.

Day 4  Delhi-Shahpura-Jaipur 
Departure by road to Jaipur, and enjoy lunch in Shahpura Haveli, the "Pink City" where the emblematic facade of the Palace of the Winds is located. Arrival and check-in at the hotel. In the evening, go for a photo stop at the Albert Hall Palace and visit the Birla Temple to see the evening prayer ceremony called Aarti.

Day 5 Jaipur-Amber-Jaipur 
Visit Amber, which from the road there will give present a spectacular vista of the region. Ascend to this fortified palace on an elephant where palace pavilions are adorned with marble paintings and watermarks. On the way back to Jaipur, the expedition will visit the Maharaja Palace and its museums. Also take in the views of the colossal instruments of the Jai Singh Observatory.

Day 6 Jaipur- Abhaneri-Fatehpur Sikri-Agra 
Depart in the morning towards Agra visiting en route the stepped well of Abhaneri and Fatehpur Sikri, an imperial capital paralyzed in time. It was the last city built by Akbar and apparently abandoned due to lack of water.
The journey continues to Agra, a city that alternated with Delhi as the capital of the Mogol Empire.

Day 7 Agra-Delhi 
After breakfast, visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World – the magnificent Taj Mahal, which was commissioned by the Mogol emperor Shah Jahan in 1632 to house as the tomb of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal and himself. The architectural marvel took over 10 years to complete with another 10 years for other phases of the project within the 42-acre complex. Depart for Delhi via transport without accompanying guide, and check into hotel upon arrival.

Day 8  Delhi- Katmandu

Check out of hotel after breakfast for airport transfer to take the flight to Kathmandu – the City of Temples and the capital for the country of Nepal. Located at 4,600 feet above sea level in the Kathmandu Valley, the capital city has been the center for history, art culture and the economy of this multi-ethnic population of 2.5 million with a Hindu and Buddhist majority. It is the gateway to the Nepalese Himalayas and home to several world heritage sites. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel will be arranged for check-in. The rest of the day will be at own leisure when one can explore the Thamel neighborhood where there is active commercial activities.

Day 9 Katmandú / Swayambunath / Patan

After breakfast, get on a city tour of Kathmandu. Famous sites in the itinerary include Kumari Palace, Stupa of Swayambunath and more. The journey continues toward Patan with a visit to the Palatial Ensemble.

Day 10 –Kathmandu-Bodhnath-Pashupatinath 
After breakfast, visit Bodhnath, one of the largest stupas in the world. Also stroll through the grounds of the temples of Pashupatinath, one of the most important temples of the Hindu religion dedicated to the god Shiva. Here we may see the incineration of the bodies on the banks of the Bagmati River. The afternoon will be at own leisure.

Day 11 Kathmandu-Delhi-U.S.A 
After breakfast, check out from hotel and get transferred to the airport for your flight back to the U.S.A. through Delhi, India.
