Day 3 Ho Chi Minh City
Enjoy the morning at leisure or join the optional half morning day tour to Cu Chi Tunnels.

Optional tour: Cu Chi Tunnels Half Day (minimum 4 participants) $49 per person. Departing Ho Chi Minh City in the morning, you will head to the Cu Chi District of the city to explore Cu Chi Tunnels. This immense network of underground connecting tunnels played a significant role as the base of the Viet Cong during the military campaigns of the Vietnam War in 1968. These tunnels had facilitated the movements of North Vietnamese fighters against the American military efforts, where they also served as communication and supply routes, hospitals, food and weapon caches and living quarters for the Viet Cong. After viewing an introductory video, inspecting various mantraps, the remains of an American tank and numerous bomb craters, you will spend the next hour exploring the maze of tunnels to see how the Viet Cong survived in this underground network.

In the afternoon, the tour of the city starts with the visit to Notre Dame Cathedral that was built between 1877 and 1883. It is a major center of Catholicism in modern Vietnam and one of the city's major landmarks. Next to the cathedral stands the Saigon Post Office, a classic French colonial structure that is still a functioning post office today. It features huge ceilings, a giant portrait of Ho Chi Minh – the First President of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, and many beautiful architectural details. Then, visit The People's Committee Hall which was built during the French colonial period. Continue to see The Municipal Theater of Ho Chi Minh City, also known as Saigon Opera House. This is a key representative example of the remaining French Colonial architecture in Vietnam. The final visit of the day is to Ben Thanh Market – an icon of the city which stands in the center of District 1, packed to the rafters with everything from fruits to nuts, from tourist offers to true bargains, it is a definite must-see attraction while in Ho Chi Minh City.
