Is This Trip Right for You?

This is an active trip. Our tour group covers a lot of ground each day, and we spend two to three hours on our feet during tours. The pace is fast. We have many early mornings and long bus rides necessary to cover the territory. Some of our tours require walking over uneven surfaces or up and down steep slopes or steps. Depart for Chengdu, China from your preferred U.S. international gateway city.

Day 2 On board the flight to Chengdu, China
Enjoy the onboard services and hospitality of the airline crew as you cross the international dateline towards the Asian continent.

Day 3 Chengdu-Zhangjiajie
Once arrival in Chengdu, we will take a domestic flights from Chengdu to Zhangjiajie. Welcome to Zhangjiajie! Upon arrival,  at the airport, our tour guide will be waiting for you, you'll then be transported in a comfortable, non-smoking vehicle by an experienced driver directly to your hotel in downtown Zhangjiajie. Your guide will assist you with the check-in process at the hotel.

Day 4 Zhangjiajie
Head to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park to begin your adventure. Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is the first national forest park in China, and it is a breathtaking representation of the fictional planet Pandora. With its unique pillar-like mountains and ever-present mist, it's no wonder why this park was chosen by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. Firstly, a sightseeing bus will take you to the Yuanjiajie Area, renowned worldwide for inspiring the floating mountains depicted in the Hollywood movie Avatar. The evenly tall peaks in Yuanjiajie create a stunning mountain platform, offering panoramic views of the surrounding vistas. Afterward, we'll explore World Bridge, where the twin peaks create a natural arch, typically enveloped in a breathtaking mist, showcasing a stunning, expansive deck that spans two meters in width and twenty meters in length, soaring at an impressive height of 350 meters. Last but least, we will visit Back Garden.In the eastern part of Huang Shizhai in Zhangjiajie, lies the HuoLang Valley, dotted with numerous small rocky crags. The valley is abundant with flourishing flowers and trees, flowing water that sings with a clear and tranquil melody, and tastefully arranged scenery. The entrance to this "garden" is marked by two large collapsed rocks leaning against each other, forming a double arch that resembles a gracefully shaped gate. Before getting back to the hotel for resting, we will stop by at Latex Factory.


Optional Program: Tianzi Mountain Discovery Tour(1 way local car , 1 way Bailong Elevator Down + Xiangxi Song and Dance Show) at $80 per person.
You'll start by taking the Tianzishan cable car to reach Tianzi Mountain, where breathtaking views of the towering peaks await. From atop the mountain, you can marvel at the expansive scenic area, filled with magnificent and awe-inspiring landscapes.

Day 5 Zhangjiajie
Following breakfast, your day will begin with visiting Golden Whip Stream
 which is a stunning natural stream, named after the Golden Whip Rock. Its beauty lies in the flowing water amidst the picturesque mountains, embodying the saying "water in the mountains flows, people like water in the middle reaches," highlighting its natural allure. Next on the itinerary is the Ten Miles Gallery, a vast ten-mile-long canyon gorge adorned with a meandering creek, resembling a picturesque gallery of natural landscapes. We will also stop at the Silk store where you can delve into the rich history of silk, a renowned commodity traded along the ancient Silk Road.

Optional Program: Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon at $80 per person.
Here, you'll have the option to walk across the world's highest and longest glass bridge, offering thrilling views. Alternatively, you can fully explore the Grand Canyon, enjoying sights such as running waters, cascading waterfalls, and lush vegetation.

As an optional activity, you can attend "A Fox Fairy of Tianmen Mountain," renowned as the world's first real-scene musical drama set against the backdrop of high mountains and deep valleys. This captivating production tells a heartwarming love story against a stunning natural stage.

Day 6 Zhangjiajie-Xi'an
After breakfast, visit Junshen Gallery where showcases a diverse array of sand paintings that blend traditional Chinese painting compositions with modern techniques. It seamlessly integrates elements such as prints, sculptures, and art depicting potted landscapes, creating a harmonious fusion of artistic expressions.
your next destination is Tianmen Mountain, often considered the "soul" of Zhangjiajie. This majestic mountain offers views of ancient trees, karst formations, and winding roads carved into cliff sides. The cable car ride from the city center to the mountaintop takes about 30 minutes and holds the distinction of being the world's longest cable car. 

Then you will visit Ghost Valley Plank Road (includes glass skywalk)  which offers awe-inspiring views from cliffside paths, evoking a deep sense of wonder akin to ancient explorers among interconnected peaks and serene hills. Following you will explore Tianmen Cave (includes local transportation and ascent via heavenly stairs) which is  the world's highest mountain cave, renowned for unique natural phenomena like "Tianmen Spit Fog" and "Heavenly Gate Rays," celebrated as rare wonders of the world.


In the evening, you will be transferred to the airport and take a domestic flights from Zhangjiajie to Xi'an.

Day 7 Xian
Today will be at your leisure to explore Xi'an by yourself or you can participate in the wonderful optional excursion to visit the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum in the afternoon, and the optional Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show in the evening.


Optional Tour 1: Visit the Terracotta Warrior and Horses Museum with lunch at $89 per person.
Come marvel at the undisputed Eighth Wonder of the World – the live archeological site at the Terracotta Warrior and Horses Museum in Xi'an.  The exposed Terracotta Army and Horses are touted to be only a small contingent in the necropolis that was accidentally discovered by farmers in 1974 while digging for well water. Since then, the site has been converted into a working museum for archaeologists consisting of several buildings protecting the live-size terracotta human and horse figurines that were supposed to safeguard the First Emperor of a unified China in his afterlife more than 2,500 years ago. Seize the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit the three excavation pits and see the breathtaking scale of an ancient empire. After spending your time exploring the museum, you will be routed to visit a terracotta replication factory to look at the modern production process of these terracotta soldiers.

Optional Tour 2: Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show at $50 per person.
You can now enjoy the sights, sounds, music, and dance of imperial court entertainment during the heights of Chinese civilization in the Tang Dynasty (618 to 907 A.D.) at this stage performance. The multi-talented professional performers and dancers will amaze the audience with a great series of repertoire that includes performances with ancient musical instruments, Chinese dances, songs, grandeur costumes and pageantry rarely seen today.

Day 8 Xian-Chengdu
After breakfast, take an orientation ride around the city and visit the impressive city monument, the Xi'an City Wall which is also one of the largest and oldest conserved Chinese fortifications in the country. The rectangular-shaped Xi'an Wall was rebuilt in the 14th century over the previous palace wall of the Tang Dynasty (618 to 907 A.D.) is now 39 feet high, between 39 and 46 feet wide at the top, and encloses an area of 5.4 square miles. Described by Michelle Obama as "a wall that has withstood war and famine and the rise and fall of dynasties" during the Obamas' visit in 2014, City Wall now give visitors a majestic view of the ancient city caught in between the old and the seemingly new forever expanding city with a changing skyline in its perimeter. You can stroll atop the spacious wall and peek into the uniquely-styled watchtowers and imposing gates underneath. 

Then you will be transferred to the airport to take a domestic flights from Xi'an to Chengdu.Welcome to Chengdu, China, the panda's hometown! Upon your arrival and immigration clearance early in the morning, our tour representative will meet you outside the baggage claim exit and guide you to the comforts of our transfer vehicle that will bring you back to the hotel for check-in. The rest day will be at leisure to rest and refresh.

Day 9 Chengdu
After breakfast, the tour guide will guide you to Kuanzhai Alley to explore  the most popular commercial streets on your own pace and experience the life of old Chengdu and enjoy the ancient style courtyards, where you can also enjoy the local traditional food and street snacks.Then visit the People' park to experience the local people' leisure life and also experience the local tea culture.

Optional Program: Spicy Hotpot experience at local restaurant at $45 per person.
Sichuan hotpot dates back to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) when it was created in a small town on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. Local boatmen cooked a kind of spicy soup with vegetables, meat and hot peppers to help them in the humid, cold weather. Over hundreds of years, hotpot evolved to become a major Sichuan cuisine.The dipping sauces are usually made of sesame oil with garlic and green onion. People can put any meat and vegetables including potato, lotus root and tofu into the pot.

Day 10 Chengdu
Today, we are planning to visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding for an up-close observation of these fascinating animals! Sichuan is renowned worldwide as the habitat of giant pandas, and the Chengdu Research Base plays a crucial role in their research and conservation efforts. Unlike traditional zoo settings, this facility offers a more natural environment for the pandas, allowing visitors to enjoy watching them in spacious, open-air enclosures. It promises to be a delightful and memorable experience interacting with these adorable pandas.


Optional Program: Sichuan Opera cultural show at $59 per person.
Sichuan Opera has a history spanning 300 years and your evening's entertainment celebrates the music, voice, dance and humor of the region.
The show begins with the classic 'Nightmare of Shi Huaiyu,' which is part ghost story and part love song, featuring famous characters from Chinese fiction. Next the performance features two soloists on traditional Chinese instruments. First is the Ehru, the Chinese violin with a haunting sound that you'll never forget. Later on in the opera, a solo will be performed on the Guqin, the Chinese zither. The Guqin is associated with wisdom and nobleness and is used for only the most traditional and sentimental music. Between the two soloists will be the 'Singing of Cuckoo,' performed in classic Sichuan surd singing style. Surd singing is one of the most difficult techniques in all Chinese music, and the Cuckoo is one of the best-known folk songs among Sichuan people. The show's finale will be the joyous 'Wild Dance of Golden Snake.' This traditional folk music is full of humor, merriment, and the personality of the West Shu country people who perform the dance.

 Enjoy your day at leisure to explore the exciting capital city of Sichuang-Chengdu on your own, or you may take our optional program to deeply explore the historical city.

Leshan Giant Buddha, the largest sitting Buddha in the world, which has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. Leshan Giant Buddha is 71 meters high, 18 meters higher than the second largest stone Buddha of Bamyan in Afghanistan.With wonderful scene of the Leshan Giant Buddha, numerous interest places and contiguous scenic spots, it is just like a picture scroll with too many beautiful things. No matter whether you climb up the mountain for sightseeing or look around by water, it is sure that you must feast your eyes on the beauty, relaxed and happy and reluctant to leave. Take a cruise for an alternative perspective of the grand Buddha(For dry season, alternatively, cruise trip will be switched to hiking).
